74th Republic Day was celebrated in S. P. M. Public English Medium School

On 26th January 2023, adorned with our nation’s tricolour in full glory, the 74th Republic Day was celebrated in S. P. M. Public English Medium School. The Chief Guest, Shri. Siddharth Shirole (Member of the Legislative Assembly) and the Guest of Honour, Dr. N. M. Joshi, an eminent educationist, were the honourable dignitaries of the day.
 
The chief guests were accompanied by the Principal, Dr. Aparna Morris, and Shri. Satish Vasant Pawar, Member of the S. P. Mandali Managing Council. Hon. Shri. Siddharth Shirole unfurled the National Flag. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
 
The delightful rendition of the patriotic song, ‘विजयी विश्व तिरंगा प्यारा ’ was sung by the students followed by the Preamble and the Pledge to uphold the honour and integrity of the nation. The tri colour balloons which represent the free spirit of India were released in the sky by the Chief Guest.
 
Kavya Shah of class 7 gave a motivational speech in English. Mrunmayee Kulkarni of class 7 expressed her patriotic feelings in the form of a Marathi poem. The entire campus reverberated with the rhythmic patriotic song presented by the choir group.
 
Students who performed exceptionally well in various academic and co – curricular competitions were awarded prizes by the Guest of Honour. The March Past by class 8 and 9 students of the four houses: Confidence, Integrity, Perseverance and Valour showcased the discipline and focus as they marched together as a team.
 
The synchronized movements, the crisp commands, the zeal, and enthusiasm in perfect symphony was commendable. The students of class 6 and 7 children showcased their talent in the Dumbbell drill. A yoga demonstration dedicated to Adi yogi was performed by the students to show the mind and body balance. Students of class 5 and 6 put in a stunning performance of the ancient traditional Indian sport ‘Rope Mallakhamb’.
 
Dr. N.M. Joshi, the Guest of Honour, praised the performances of the students. He narrated a touching true incident in Marathi of a 12-year-old who sacrificed his life to save the other freedom fighters from the British autocracy.  Adv. S. K. Jain, Chairman, Managing Council of S. P. Mandali, while expressing his views, urged the young children to nurture the values and respect the Indian Constitution.
 
 
The Principal, Dr. Aparna Morris expressed her heartfelt thanks to the students, staff members and the parents. The ceremony culminated with the school song and Vande Mataram.
